Take a Deep Breath

How do you feel now since you started? Didn't notice a difference? Feeling more relaxed? More frustrated? If you answered yes to any of these questions then keep reading :) What you just experienced was a tiny glimse into meditation and no matter how you felt about it keep in mind that it's a process.

I started meditating more consistently about a year ago.I was going through something intense at the time and a good friend recommended meditation. She said it's not something that automatically cures the problem, but over time and with practice the techniques you learn while meditating is something you can take along with you in times of distress. And boy have I used those skills time and again.I think now more than ever we're in great need to reconnect with ourselves and experience the calm that's always been there. And it doesn't have to take much time either. I only meditate about 10-15 minutes a day, and while that might not seem much or maybe a lot to some, it did take me about a month to experience the benefits of meditation, one of which was feeling more calm. So, if you haven't already, why don't you give yourself a few moments to unwind and try one of these two meditation apps that I've tried (they include a free trial period). Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with any of these apps so I don't gain anything other than hopefully helping you find your peace.

MEDITATION TIPS:

  1. Make sure to sit up straight with your head upright. When I started meditating I used to slouch a bit and had my head tilted slightly down. At the end of each session I felt sleepy and tired. I later found out it was due to my poor posture. It really makes a difference!

  2. Start with just 10 minutes a day and preferably in the morning to help set your day. And consistency is key. The more often you do it the more likely you'll feel the results. Please share what you think or if you have a different app or method you tried that works well.

RECENT WEBSITE PROJECT: May I Dwell in Gratitude

Speaking of meditation, I had the opportunity to design a new Website for a local client, Karl Thunemann, who blogs just about that! His new site is a collection of stories, thoughts and explorations about a seeming lifetime of meditation (40+ years).

ART PRINT HIGHLIGHT

I don't know what it is? Maybe it's the crazy times we live but this art print has been seeing lots of action lately! It's a bible verse from Isaiah ("When you go through deep waters I will be with you") that I painted with watercolors and embellished with inks. Makes a great gift! You can purchase it here in my Etsy shop.

Thank you for reading. Wishing you all to be well and healthy!
